Descrption:
Excellent example of a rail-trail through a rural small town. Features
include old railcars at trailhead, bird boxes, beautiful landscaping,
solar lights, several interesting signs, and a picnic shelter with an
old-fashioned water pump. The first mile of this trail was constructed
with entirely donated resources in less than 1 year from conception to
opening, a feat which remains unparalleled anywhere in the country to
our knowledge.
Manager: Town
of Sweetser
Future Plans: Will
eventually connect to the Marion
section of the Cardinal Greenway Converse Junction
Trail. The trail is also a portion of the proposed northern
off-road leg of the American Discovery Trail in
Indiana from Richmond to Crown Point.
